A PDF is a single file, it opens the same on any device, it keeps the page order, and it looks far more professional than three or four attached photos. On top of that, tons of procedures and forms specifically ask for "the document as a PDF," so having it in that format saves you from getting it bounced back.
How to turn your photos into a PDF from your phone
- Take the photos of the sheets or documents, as usual.
- Open the JPG to PDF tool and select all the photos at once from your gallery.
- Order them in the correct sequence (page 1, 2, 3…).
- Generate the PDF and download it. Now you have all your photos in a single document.
If you have an iPhone: your photos might be in HEIC format instead of JPG. If the tool won't pick them up, go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose "Most Compatible" to take photos as JPG, or take a screenshot of the photo (the screenshot is JPG/PNG).
Tips to make the PDF look good
- Good light and no shadows: place the document near a window or a lamp, and try to keep your own shadow from falling on it.
- Frame it straight: take the photo from above, with the paper as straight as possible and filling the frame.
- One sheet per photo: that way each sheet becomes a clean page of the PDF.
- Plain background: rest the paper on a table of a solid color, so it stands out better.
